Design Systems That Survive Contact With Real Product Teams

Most design systems are abandoned within a year. Here is what we do differently when we build one for a client.

A design system that looks beautiful in Figma but gets abandoned by engineering within six months has failed, no matter how polished the components are. We build design systems around three constraints: they must be easier to use correctly than incorrectly, every component ships with usage documentation an engineer can act on without asking a designer, and there’s a named owner responsible for the system after we hand it off.

This post covers our token architecture, component governance model, and the adoption metrics we track after launch.
